Isabel Nauerth Haynes was born October 25, 1899 in Traer, Iowa. She attended the University of Iowa, graduating in 1921 with a teaching certificate. In 1922, Isabel began her forty-five year association with Yellowstone National Park taking a summer job with Yellowstone Camps and Lodge Company. She eventually spent three years as manager of Roosevelt Lodge after completing a resort management program in California. Laneda "Lonnie" Stark was born in Minneota, Minnesota, on October 13, 1910, the daughter of Ferdinand and Cora (Christiansen) Amundson. As a young woman in 1930, she worked as a servant for a family in Payette, Idaho. She served in the Women's Army Corps (WAC's) during World War II. Her brother Leonard worked for Haynes, Inc. in Bozeman, and Laneda became close friends with Lida Haynes. Laneda married Otto Stark in Bozeman in 1950.
